The Wessex Rose Backs Major Gliding Competition

The Wessex Rose was proud to sponsor the 2013 National Two Seater Gliding Championships which are held in August every year in at Pocklington East Yorkshire, home of the Wolds Gliding Club.

Around 30 gliders from all over the UK compete for 8 days and follow pre-set cross country routes of up to 300km in one flight. With each glider having 2 pilots and associated crew, supporters and interested spectators the Wolds Gliding Club opens its doors to around 150 additional people every August

The Wessex Rose sponsored the competition by putting up the first prize for the championship winner, a three night cruise for two. After a tough fought competition the winner was Mark Sheahan from Lasham Gliding Club who said he very much enjoyed the competition, was thrilled with the prize and was looking forward to his cruise on the Wessex Rose.
