Walking
The Wessex Rose is built for luxury cruising and relaxation and we are there to ensure your break is as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, but for the energetic and/or adventurous, why not venture off the boat for a little while and explore some of the most beautiful and gentle countryside in Britain.
Walking alongside the canal or river can be as gentle as a stroll along the tow path, venturing into nearby towns and villages or visiting local attractions but for more adventurous and/or energetic walkers there are numerous opportunities for longer expeditions into the neighbouring countryside.
On the Wessex Rose we have a selection of OS Explorer 1:25000 maps covering the area around each of our cruises which you are welcome to use if you wish to explore. We are happy to help you plan a route and suggest popular landmarks and features worth visiting.
Depending on how energetic you are feeling you may like to take a morning walk and meet up with the boat again for for lunch or if you prefer a longer full day walk, we can arrange a packed lunch for you.
