Wessex Rose 5 Star Hotel Boat rating renewed
We are delighted and proud to announce that following a recent review visit by the Quality in Tourism assessor from Visit England, the Wessex Rose has retained its 5 Star Hotel Boat rating.
The Quality in Tourism assessor’s report said:
Following this assessment under the Quality Rating Scheme for Hotel Boats the Wessex Rose Hotel Boat has achieved a rating of Five Stars.
This purpose built boat has been built and fitted to an exceptionally high standard, ensuring the guests expectation at the Five Star level will be met, if not exceeded, at all times. The owners are totally committed to providing a quality experience for guests at all times
Service and Management Efficiency
Impressed with the pre-arrival information supplied, the joining instructions being clear and easy to follow
A full access statement for less agile guests is well thought out and comprehensive, covering all aspects of the guests stay on board
The boat, safety and cabin information being comprehensive and covering aspects of safety, an introduction to the facilities in the bedroom and bathroom, with all meal information provided
Good to note an extensive environmental policy in place, the owners taking time to work towards a carbon neutral status
A very friendly welcome on arrival with refreshment offered. Hospitality experienced during this visit was to an overall excellent standard
A well presented website with detailed information of product available
Evidence that overall cleanliness throughout the boat is to an excellent standard, with obvious attention to detail noted
Exterior of the boat
The exterior of the boat is attractively presented, with all exterior surfaces gleaming, the name being clearly displayed assisting the guest arrival process
Impressed to note the attention to the planters on the roof of the boat adding a further splash of colour creating a very good first impression

Saloon, Dining Area and corridor
The spacious saloon/dining area is well presented with solid oak flooring, comfortable individual easy chairs and individual monogrammed wooden dining tables
Excellent quality fittings noted, with a high level of personal touches such as books, games, DVDs, magazines etc creating a very homely environment
Illumination levels are well managed, the boat has a full central heating system from the diesel boiler and a diesel burning stove is also fitted adding further heating and ambiance if required
Sleeping Cabins
Each of the three cabins has been designed to a very high standard, with a clever bed system allowing for either double or twin occupancy, the beds having rounded corners for guest comfort when moving around the cabin
The lighting and underfloor heating is to an excellent standard, with thoughtful reading lights allowing guests to read in bed if desired
Wood paneled walls affording a high level of interior decor
Beds are dressed to a high standard, giving an inviting first impression. Pocket sprung mattresses being fitted with quality toppers, affording an excellent nights sleep
An excellent range of useful accessories are provided for guests’ use including water, sweets, tissues, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and air circulation fans
Solid wood flooring again presents to a high standard
Curtains are lined and of a good quality
Rooms are serviced daily
Bathrooms
Each of the bathrooms are fitted to an excellent standard, with fully tiled walls and floors
High quality toweling with an excellent range of Cole and Lewis toiletries including hair and body wash, conditioner, hand wash and body lotion. A vanity cube provides cotton buds, cotton wool balls and pads and a shower cap.
The tiled flooring is of an excellent standard and hygienic for cleaning purposes
Dining
Varied menus are provided with a daily change for lunch and dinner. Sample menus are provided on the website for guests to view and dietary requirements and allergies are catered for
The Wessex Rose has been awarded a Food Hygiene rating of Five by the environment health department
